Description

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Special Education Specially Designed Instruction Early Childhood Coach. Working under the direction of the Supervisor of Special Education, this position assists in the delivery of the special education programs in all schools by providing the strategies, resources, and instruction to ensure compliance and results for students with disabilities (Birth – 21) to meet the demands of the Maryland State Performance Plan for Special Education.

 

DUTIES:

  • Plan and provide high quality staff development and provide written records of the same.
  • Coach and provide feedback to elementary teachers on instruction related to specially designed instruction and results.
  • Provide training to staff on the implementation of interventions provided to students with disabilities.
  • Monitor the interventions that are provided to students with disabilities at the elementary level.
  • Participate in data review meetings at the elementary schools.
  • Collaborate with other Special Education Core Team members and the Supervisor of Special Education to analyze and interpret data to assess students with disabilities’ needs and progress.
  • Serve on district-level committees.
  • Provide ongoing support for first- and second-year special education teachers.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor of Special Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Has obtained, or is eligible for, a Maryland Professional License, required, with an endorsement in appropriate teaching field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching, required; including some experience in a leadership role, preferred.
  • Experience as a trainer for staff development to teachers with proven knowledge of current research and best practices in special education.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data discussion protocols.
  • Technology skills; including the ability to learn new software applications.
