Description

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for potential Elementary Instructional Mathematics Coach vacanies for the 2024-2025 school year.  Working under the direction of the school principal and the Supervisor of K-12 Mathematics, the Elementary Instructional Mathematics Coach implements comprehensive, school-based professional development and provides support to teachers at elementary level.  The Elementary Instructional Mathematics Coach also collaborates with all district stakeholders to enhance the opportunity for all students to be successful.

 

DUTIES:

  • Plans and delivers mathematics professional development for teachers at school and district-level professional development sessions.
  • Collaborates with teachers in the development and infusion of mathematic strategies to increase academic achievement for all students.
  • Delivers appropriate instructional support, including planning and modeling of lessons, to staff working with students for differentiation of instruction in mathematics.
  • Implements strategies that encourage students to think critically and creatively and to solve problems during mathematics instruction using the mathematical practices.
  • Assists teachers with the analysis of student achievement data and helps adjust instruction based on the results.
  • Assists teachers in implementing interventions to accelerate the progress of students who are performing below grade level in mathematics.
  • Assists with individual mathematics assessments, as appropriate.
  • Collaboratively develops curriculum documents and assessments that are aligned with the MCCRS for Mathematics.
  • Coordinates the administration of district created mathematics assessments in the school.
  • Participates in the development of DCPS Mathematics curriculum and assessments under the direction of the content supervisor.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of resources and materials to support the countywide mathematics program.
  • Attends and presents at professional development meetings at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Has obtained, or is eligible for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate in Elementary, Middle School Mathematics, or Secondary Mathematics; required.
  • Has obtained an education related master’s degree; required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the appropriate level.
  • Knowledge of instructional planning, development, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of best practices in reading and mathematics.
  • Skill in time management, personal organization, and administrative processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with central office and school-based staff, students, and their families.
  • Skill in data analysis, with a focus on instructional issues.
  • Preferred: specific knowledge of MCCRS for Mathematics, Illustrative Mathematics, and/or iReady.
