Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for New Teacher Mentors to serve as mentors to first, second, and third year non-tenured teachers. This is an hourly position without benefits. The successful candidate will demonstrate principled leadership and decision making while assuming this leadership role.
DUTIES:
- Serve as new teacher mentor to first, second, and third year non-tenured teachers.
- Complete professional development in mentoring and implement this model with assigned beginning teachers.
- Assist with planning and implementation of the New Teacher Academy and seminar courses.
- Communicate regularly with the new teacher induction supervisor.
- Prepare and distribute materials for use in the implementation and support of the program.
- Maintain accurate time sheets and program related records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Has obtained, or is eligible for, a Maryland Advanced Professional.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the appropriate level.
- Knowledge of current trends in education including the Maryland College and Career Standards.
- Knowledge of the instructional improvement process.
- Knowledge of mentoring strategies.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
SALARY: The position is hourly at the Teacher rate of $50.00 an hour. |
